Alnwick

Alnwick is the County Town of Northumberland and it is only 3 miles away. It is the home of: many shops and restaurants, an excellent Playhouse, Alnwick Castle (the filming location for Hogwarts from Harry Potter) and the Duchess of Northumberland’s Alnwick Garden.

It is a historic market town with cobbles, stone archways and interesting old properties.

Alnwick is also the home of Barter Books - one of the largest second hand book stores in Europe and it was where the poster from 1939 “Keep Calm and Carry On” was first rediscovered.
